Worldcoin Faces Enquiries in UK Possibly Over Privacy Concerns

Britain’s data regulator, Information Commissioner’s Office said that it will make inquiries into Worldcoin, a blockchain based identity and financial system that offers digital identity services and free crypto to its users who signup with the iris scans.

An officer of the spokesperson for the Information Commissioner’s Office told Reuters that:

“We note the launch of Worldcoin in the UK and will be making further enquiries.”

Though iris scan method is a reliable way to prove that the user is a human, it is still a highly sensitive data to share with others much like fingerprints. Crypto community users have raised eyebrows regarding the storage and sharing of such sensitive data.
